You might be having a simple PC with a normal power supply and you might be thinking one day to use that PC for some light gaming. Yes, that is possible, and you can get some graphics cards which you can buy cheaply and can install in your current PC without doing anything else.
A rule of thumb is that normally a graphics card of max 75W TDP can be used without any external power connector. Here its just a plug and play for PCI-Express slot and voila! You can do some basic to medium gaming.
These graphics cards can also be setup on some of the SFF (Small Form Factor) desktop PCs as well. Like in my case I have removed the top cover of the SFF desktop to install a GTX 1050 graphics card. Also, there can be “low profile” cards available which can be installed rather easily in small size PCs.
I will sort them from the most powerful to less powerful graphics cards for this purpose i-e which would probably work on your PC’s normal power supply unit. The list goes like the following:
- Nvidia GTX 3050 6GB (non-external connector)
- AMD RX 6400
- Nvidia GTX 1050Ti
- Nvidia GTX 1050
- Nvidia GTX 750Ti
- Nvidia GTX 750
- Nvidia GTX 1030
I gave this info to the best of my knowledge and is generally working for most setups. You are free to try this on your own and see if this works for your case.
